What is Ad Auction
Ad attribution is the process of determining which marketing touchpoints — ads, clicks, impressions, or interactions — contributed to a conversion or desired outcome. It answers the question: which of my ads actually caused this customer to convert?
Without proper attribution, you're making budget decisions based on incomplete data.
Why Ad Auction Matters
In a typical B2B buyer journey, a prospect might see a LinkedIn ad, click a Google Search ad, visit the site organically, and then convert on a remarketing ad three days later. Attribution determines how much credit each of those touchpoints receives.
If you're only using last-click attribution, you'll over-invest in bottom-funnel channels and starve the awareness channels that started the journey.
Common Attribution Models
This step is straightforward for developers. For founders without a Google Cloud background, the console interface is dense, and the configuration options are not intuitive.
